Social Groups at NETC!
Parent and Preschooler Group (target ages: 3 - 5 yrs*)
This interactive play group, led by one of our Social Workers, will focus on helping little ones get prepared for what will be required of them in preschool.
*Parents/caregivers will participate in this group - infant siblings are welcome to attend but will not be considered participants!
Toddler Group (target ages: 18 months - 36 months*)
In our developmental play group, we will focus on creating a playful environment, rich with language, age appropriate gross and fine motor activities, songs, and games! Led by a speech pathologist and occupational therapist.
Buddy Bunch (target ages: 4-6 years)
Led by one of our speech pathologists, kids that struggle to make friends, express their feelings, or lack the language skills to advocate for themselves within social situations will benefit from this friendship building group.
Feeding Group (target ages: 8 - 10 years)
Led by one of our occupational therapists, our feeding group is meant for children who struggle to accept new foods into their repertoire and experience severe picky eating challenges. Children will be introduced to new foods, and given opportunities to interact and play with food, and to challenge themselves with different tastes and textures, all while enjoying peer camaraderie and support of others.
*All food will be provided during this group. Parents are asked to remain on the premises during the entire session.
Speech Sound Boot Camp (target ages: 5-7 years)
Led by one of our speech pathologists, this group is intended for children who have IEP support at school, and need continued support throughout the summer. This group will target articulation errors only (speech sounds), and the main focus of the group will be maintaining skill level and preventing regression of skills. The child’s IEP must be shared with us prior to the start of the session.
Fine Motor Boot Camp (target ages: 5-7 years)
Led by one of our occupational therapists, this group is meant for children who receive occupational therapy support at school throughout the school year, and need a little boost over the summer. The child’s IEP must be shared with us prior to the start of the session.
Why attend groups at NETC?
The ideal size for our groups are 3 - 4 individuals. This allows for our clinicians to assist with social interaction and peer modeling. We do allow groups to run with as few as 2 members, and occasionally more than 4 members, if we have two clinicians leading a larger group.
Our programming is designed and led by dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Professionals
A fun and functional hour spent developing critical skills that children need for success in school, at home, and in day-to-day activities and social situations.
Does my child have to be a patient at NETC to join a group?
No, anyone who would benefit from our groups is welcome to attend! If we do not know your child already, we may schedule a phone call or meeting to ensure that your child would benefit from one of our current group offerings.
Can I trial a class first? I’m not ready to commit.
If there is space, absolutely! We allow class trials or last minute drop-ins, in order to determine if our groups are the right fit for your child, or if you simply aren’t ready to commit to the full session. Our trial rate is $35/class. **Participants must call our office first to ensure that there is space available.
For the safety of all of our patients, parents/caregivers are required to remain on premises. Thank you for your help!
Parents may be asked to complete a screening or consultation prior to finalizing group enrollment in order to determine the most appropriate group placement for your child. All group participants are subject to clinician approval.
